Day 2 of swCT2010 @ New Haven is all about Friends & Family. It being a Sunday and the finale of World Cup 2010, we're going to have fun with events that bring us together - for rest and recreation, hobbies & sports, health & wellness, things we do for ourselves and/or with those who are dear to us. Special emhasis on themes of health (of mind, body, spirit) and our sustainability (mother earth)!
Key Takeaway: How can we use the social web to have more fun, healthy and sustainable lives in CT?
Every Sunday evening, eight year old Fiona Hynes does a radio show on Blogtalkradio with her father.
As part of Family and Friends day at Social Web Week Connecticut, Fiona will be taking calls from people using social media to help families and friends stay connected.
The Black Sheep Band starting us off with their classic blues and rock - Denise Parri & Rhonda Swoope on vocals, Clark Bender & Arthur Bargar on guitars, Chris Jamison on Bass, J. Michael "Mike Buck" Buckanavage on drums, and Mark Scanlon on fiddle!
You - that's right, you! - can bring your own music and jam with us!
You're encouraged to bring something to share - drinks, snacks, cigars, music, poetry, dance, etc...
We'll start at 430 and go till everyone does. If you're coming from swCT's World Cup event, this is where you want your next and final stop to be on swCT Sunday!
A day can't get much better than the World Cup Finals, a momentous occasion in soccer that only comes around once every four years- but we'll try anyways! How about a chance to win your own Pub Crawl?
During the game Christy's, Anna Liffy's and Kelly's are hosting The Great Gathering of the Jerseys. It's simple:
Wear your favorite jersey on game day;
Get as many people as you can, wearing different team jerseys, in a single photo;
Edgewood Park Market will be gearing up the usual Sunday market but with a little Social Web pizzaz. Capturing moments of the market, its farmers and delicious local food on the corner of Whalley Avenue and West Rock Avenue will be brought to life from 10-2. Help us spread the wonders of the market by posting photos, video clips, and comments on the Web (instructions to come - register for updates).
Come meet the faces of the market along with their fresh (natural or organic) vegetables, fruit, syrup, eggs, meats and more. Experience the local difference of CT foods and share them to support a more sustainable agriculture, local economy and community.
Also, from 10-12 New Haven Youth Soccer will be hosting a soccer clinic with games for the kids nearby- entertainment for the kids to make this a true family event.
See map: Google MapsNew Haven Youth Soccer (NHYS) is hosting a soccer clinic for kids right next door to the Edgewood Park Farmer's Market on the corner of Whalley and West Rock Avenue. Feature different games for the kids ages 7-11 to play and prizes.
NHYS is also offering a $20 discounted during the clinic when you pre-register for Fall Soccer.
